*Updated 7 January 2019.

I was reading through this and realised it was ridiculously old.  I gave up on the Psych degree because I kept failing data analysis and graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies instead.  At the end of 2018 I finished a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice, and applied to get back in to the Bachelor of Arts (Internet Communications) that I had been previously working towards.

I became a grandmother to the cutest little boy in April 2018 when my daughter had a baby.  My son was married in July 2018 and they are expecting a little girl in March 2019.  I started really getting into Korean dramas a couple of years ago (thanks, Netflix), and that led to a love of Kpop that began in late November/early December 2017.  I was struggling really badly to keep up with this blog due to writer’s block and real life events.  It was so hard to think of what to write despite the strong urge to do so.

A couple of days ago I decided to just do it.  My love of Korean dramas has given me the incentive to write about something that I have become passionate about.

Thank you for reading.  ❤

Welcome to the ‘About’ page.  My name is Michelle M. and I’m a divorced single mum of two young adults.  We live in a multi-generation household at Hervey Bay in Queensland. The photo I’ve used for my blog was taken at a park in Urangan looking towards the resort accommodation near the Marina.   We can’t see the water from our house but we’re only a five minute walk to the Esplanade and a lovely view across to Fraser Island.  Fishing is a big thing here and one of the most popular fishing spots is the Urangan pier.  I really enjoy fishing because I find it very relaxing but I’ve yet to actually catch anything other than old shells or clumps of seaweed.

Life is a little bit too busy at times.  I’m currently studying a psychology degree as well as working part-time and training as a volunteer. It’s a bit hectic but it sure beats sitting around doing nothing.  I enjoy studying, reading for pleasure when I have the time, doing puzzles and creative writing (when I can find the time).

Sometimes we all need to stop and take the time not just to smell the roses but to have a bit of a chuckle. I have found this to be especially important now as I almost died from heart failure towards the end of 2012 and have been dealing with the recovery process since then.

I’ve always enjoyed silly things and can remember sitting up at night to watch Monty Python’s Flying Circus with my mother when I was young.  We also enjoyed listening to The Goon Show on ABC radio, and I watched The Goodies and the classic Doctor Who episodes after school on the ABC.  Okay, so I’m still a fan-girl when it comes to Doctor Who and I had a crush on the Ninth Doctor played by Christopher Eccleston, and fell madly in love with David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor.  The quirky Matt Smith is doing a fine job as the Eleventh Doctor but David Tennant is a hard act to follow. I am now looking forward to the Twelfth Doctor.

I’m also rather a fan-girl when it comes to the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood with John Barrowman playing Captain Jack Harkness, and Eve Myles as Gwen.  I’ve been suffering from Torchwood withdrawal ever since the series ended.

I’ve always enjoyed things that are a bit different to the run-of-the-mill.  My favourites are tv shows that are a little bit dark like La Femme Nikita, shows that are silly like Monty Python, and shows that are a combination of both like Torchwood and Being Human.

Take some time out to have a laugh at the silly stuff.  If you look hard enough you can find it all around you.  We’ve all done silly things!
